چکیده

neurologic events in all but the first clusters was statistically related to at least one coexistent complication. The interrelationship of these events makes the identification of the relative contribution of each single variable difficult. It is reported that the development of neurologic complications can be the result of low cardiac output syndrome (ie, severe arrhythmias).5,6 Vice versa, cardiac injury can develop as a result of brain damage.7,8 Therefore, further studies are necessary to elucidate the relationship of these complications.

Vascular endothelial growth factor levels in active pulmonary tuberculosis.

BACKGROUND Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a mediator with potent angiogenic, mitogenic, and vascular permeability-enhancing activities that are specific for endothelial cells. Intense angiogenesis has been found in active pulmonary tuberculosis lesions. OBJECTIVES To determine whether active pulmonary tuberculosis is associated with increased serum levels of VEGF compared with i...

Pulmonary vascular permeability to transferrin in the pulmonary oedema of renal failure.

Thirteen patients with renal failure and pulmonary oedema were assessed for evidence of increased pulmonary vascular permeability to protein by a double isotope technique. Comparison was made with 10 patients with cardiogenic pulmonary oedema, 11 healthy volunteers, and 10 patients with the adult respiratory distress syndrome. There was no significant difference in the accumulation of a radiola...

Twist1 Controls Lung Vascular Permeability and Endotoxin-Induced Pulmonary Edema by Altering Tie2 Expression

Tight regulation of vascular permeability is necessary for normal development and deregulated vascular barrier function contributes to the pathogenesis of various diseases, including acute respiratory distress syndrome, cancer and inflammation. The angiopoietin (Ang)-Tie2 pathway is known to control vascular permeability. However, the mechanism by which the expression of Tie2 is regulated to co...
